Appointments

To be certain that we set aside sufficient time for your appointment, when you call our receptionist needs to ask several questions about the nature of your child’s illness and/or visit.  This information is vital to scheduling your appointment appropriately.  Also click on  Prepare for an Appointment  to help things go even more smoothly.

We make every effort to see our patients on time.  An emergency may occur and some appointments may take longer than expected. Please be understanding if this should happen.  We will do everything possible to expedite your visit or let you know of the delay and see if you would like to reschedule.

Routine physicals should be scheduled from four to six weeks in advance.  For your convenience you can call and schedule up to a year in advance as well as at the time of check checking out.  Please remember that many schools require physical exams for general admittance and/or participation in school-sanctioned sporting activities.  By reviewing school calendars and scheduling these appointments well in advance, you can avoid a last minute rush.

Insurance carriers require updated paperwork.  If you have a change of address or have changed insurance plans, please arrive at least 10 minutes early so that we may update your records.

Contacting by Phone

469-303-8500 your call will be routed through our automated phone system.  You will be required to follow the prompts to reach the appropriate person to handle your needs.

Although our phone nurses try to answer all of your questions, we do not diagnose illnesses over the phone. Our Nurses can help you determine if you need to see a provider.  Please call directly for an appointment if you believe treatment may be required. Same-Day Sick Visits  If it is necessary for you to leave a voice mail message your call will be handled on a basis of need and urgency and returned on the same day.

After-Hours Call Handling

All About Children Pediatrics provides access to an excellent nurse triage service.  We have contracted for the service so that our parents will receive reliable and accurate information and advice for your children.  We encourage you to call the office number after hours to be linked to this triage line.  There is an on-call physician available at all times as well if needed.  The triage line can help you determine if your child needs urgent care at an emergency room or urgent care center….or can provide comfort to you and your child if an appointment should be scheduled for the next day.  Please see our Office Hours.

Prescriptions

Please call your pharmacy for prescription refills.  They will fax a request to us at 469-303-0680.  You should allow 48 hours for medication refills including asthma medications.  It MAY be necessary to schedule an appointment before a refill on medication will be approved.

For all non-emergency referrals, please contact our office at least one week in advance. In the event your child may need to see a specialist, your HMO or POS insurance company requires that you be referred by one of our providers. If we have referred your child to a specialist, please contact our office at least one week prior to each scheduled follow-up appointment with the specialist, so we may contact your insurance company to get the necessary referral. If you are part of an HMO or POS plan and you do not receive authorization from us prior to your visit with a specialist, your insurance company may not pay for this treatment.

We may require an appointment prior to authorizing a request for a referral which will be determined at the time of your request.
